JPG & WEBP Quality Control
DebTech uses the browser Canvas API to encode the output image. The selected quality value is passed to the browser encoder for JPG and WEBP output. Quality is represented from 10% to 100%.
Important Notes
- JPG and WEBP are lossy formats, so lower quality can reduce file size but may reduce visual detail.
- PNG input can be converted to JPG or WEBP using the output format selector.
- If JPG is selected, transparent areas are rendered against a white background.
- The final compression ratio depends on the original image, dimensions, format and selected quality.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the quality slider really control JPG and WEBP quality?
Yes. The selected percentage is converted to a 0–1 encoder quality value and supplied to the browser's image encoder.
Are my images uploaded?
No. This page performs the compression locally in the browser and does not require a PHP backend.
